1:1 Learning Coach

Qualifications
Effective in developing confidence and motivation in students
Engaging, high energy, and caring with an ability to create strong trust-based relationships with students and parents
Creative, adaptable, and able to manage multiple objectives at one time; the ideal candidate must be flexible and proactive, with an ability to respond to student fatigue, disengagement, or other complexity
Evidently enthusiastic about coaching, teaching, and learning
Organized and conscientious; professional
An excellent communicator with students, parents, and colleagues in person and in writing
a strong leader with an ability to engage collaboratively with clients, team members, and community
Willing to meet the needs of our parents and students proactively, with flexibility, responsiveness, and empathy
Confident working in a fast-paced environment with high-expectations
Comfortable using digital tools such as G-Suite
Ability to commit to a full year of teaching at least 15 hours per week
Ability to work evenings and weekends during the school year
Ability to conveniently travel to our Menlo Park office and to students’ homes in the SF Peninsula
Ready to employ remote teaching technology with confidence and from a professional setting (we are currently offering remote tutoring in addition to in-person sessions)
You have:
A demonstrated track record of excellent student outcomes in teaching and/or 1:1 student coaching
Preferred that you have:
Track record of success teaching students with learning differences
SAT/ACT/ISEE/SSAT tutoring experience or specialized academic coaching experience
Objectives of this Role
Lead 1:1 academic coaching, test preparation coaching, essay writing, and/or executive skills programs for students preparing for admissions to middle school, high school and college.
Meet with students weekly for 1 hr-1.5 hr. meetings to execute personalized learning program developed in collaboration with parents, students, and company leadership
Use assessments to determine student mastery of key skills
Select materials and activities for each student and their particular learning goals
Give students post-session activities to maintain or further develop mastery, knowledge, and engagement in the program
Help develop student executive function skills with personalized attention to student planning, organization, and time management, among others
Track student data using online management software
Gather artifacts of student learning as evidence of growth and progress toward mastery of given learning standards
Communicate progress to clients and company leadership frequently and regularly
Maintain professional rapport with parents and students using email, calendar, and other tools
Deliver exceptional remote tutoring sessions from a professional setting as needed
Contribute to our educational materials and content development
